Ruby, affectionately known in our family as “the regal bird”, was our first greyhound. She was two and a half when we adopted her in 2005 after she concluded her racing career at Seabrook Park, New Hampshire. We lived in the Philadelphia suburbs when we adopted her from NGAP. She was almost twelve when we said goodbye to her on February 1, 2015 – Super Bowl Sunday – due to cancer. If you’ve ever lost a pet, you know that was a very hard day. Plus, the Seahawks choked. Don’t get me started on that.
Rest in peace, sweet Ruby. The flowers will soon be in full bloom, the perfect time to spread your ashes at the foot of Mt. Rainier.
